Great HR Software for Small Businesses

Kommentarer: Overall, this is a great HR application for small businesses. There are a lot of very useful out-of-box features available, and the pricing model doesn't change if you are under a certain number of users so there is room for growth without continuously increasing your costs. Compared to other HR applications we researched, this was the most user-friendly for the best price. If you are looking to automate some of your HR work, I highly recommend implementing BambooHR. It has greatly improved the organization of our HR processes.

BambooHR is an easy to use and very comprehensive HR software that offers a lot of valuable and high-use out-of-box features. Our initial primary uses of the software were aggregation and consolidation of personnel information, PTO tracking, and general communication of company announcements to the team. As we got further into the product offerings, we also began to heavily utilize the onboarding, offboarding, and recruiting features, all of which were previously done using very manual processes. BambooHR allowed us to discontinue using spreadsheets and other manual forms for very common and basic HR functions, while housing them under one roof. It also provided our employees with a easier way to contribute to their own personnel profiles, and while as request and track PTO.

Ulemper:

To properly utilize BambooHR according to your companies specific HR processes, there is a lot of individual and time-intensive setup involved. The platform is fairly customizable, but only if you are willing to invest significant time into configuring the features. While we expected a significant time investment into setting up the application, we were disappointed to learn that we would not have a dedicated account manager to help us with the setup process. We had to learn everything about the platform on our own through the BambooHR help portal, or by calling the customer service number and waiting for a representative to be available. We also experience a price increase only a few month after signing up for the service. We were also disappointed to learn that the integrations with Google and Slack are very limited, and while some information can be passed between the systems, we needed to customize some of the API calls in order to share more useful information with the team. There are definitely some limitations to their integrations.

We have liked everything so far. There are a few reports that would be helpful for us to have, but nothing that is keeping us from a solid operation.

Unethical pricing practices, poor customer service/poor treatment of loyal longstanding customers

Fordele:

They made the administrative side of HR so much easier for us. Easy tracking, automatic reminders, clearly display everything to staff, conduct performance reviews, onboarding and offboarding simplified. All great. Really helped our business get to the next level with staffing. We were so deeply upset when their business practices forced us to find a different product.

Ulemper:

After almost 4 years as a loyal customer, they restructured their subscription packages moving us from top tier to mid tier and moving some of the add-on features we were paying extra for into the top tier. At that point they told us that unless we upgraded with a 75% price increase we would no longer receive upgrades to those features. The point of subscription software is that we are paying for the continual development and upgrades. It is totally not ok to force existing customers to pay monthly for legacy software. I tried to negotiate with them and ask for some kind of compromise, like grandfathering us into top tier only for those features or perhaps a discount on top tier for a period of time. They absolutely refused to work with me, straight up refused to let me talk to a manager, insisted that I had to take the full price increase to retain updates for the features I'd already been using for years. When I told them that was a terrible way to treat a loyal customer and that I would take my business elsewhere they were fine with it. Perhaps because we are a small business, they don't see it worth their time to keep us as a customer. I would warn everyone away from BambooHR as you can't trust the prices they tell you you'll pay. Unreliable, predatory, and awful way to treat loyal customers. From a company that preaches about treating people well from an HR perspective, they sure don't understand how to treat customers.

Creating Structure with Bamboo HR

Kommentarer: While we've been using Bamboo HR for nearly two years, we have yet to fully utilize all of their features. I look forward to scaling our Centre with the confidence that Bamboo HR can scale with us.

The ability to quick implement a robust human resource information system, providing structure and stability to organizations who otherwise may not have the resources to create similar systems on their own.

Ulemper:

Largely, the cost of add-ons and customization for small, non-profit and charitable organizations. However, the per-person cost does help keep things reasonable, we just have difficulty scaling to receive the discounts of larger organizations.

Pleasant to Use

Kommentarer: Overall, Bamboo HR was a pleasant payroll tool to use compared to ones I have used in the past. I would definitely recommend over tools such as ADP or Paylocity. I like their color scheme and font choices as well; it was easy on the eyes.

Fordele:

-The user interface is easy to navigate. -It's easy to tell how much time off I have used throughout the year and what I have left to use, instead of trying to manually calculate. -I like how they have the option to use the platform as a place to record performance and goals. No need to log onto another platform. -I like that there's a company directory so that I can find the names of people I need to talk to, rather then relying on Microsoft Outlook's finnicky contact cards.

Ulemper:

-I don't like that there's a way to see who is out of the office and when for the whole company. This seems like an invasion of privacy and it should be limited to those who work in your team. -I think the file organization could be better. I had a slew of documents I signed when on-boarding, but I could not find all of them again in the platform once I officially joined the company.

BambooHR Review by an Employee

Kommentarer: I use BambooHR every day to punch in and out for my shift. I also use BambooHR to submit time of requests and self-assessments/coworker ratings for reviews. It stores many important documents relating to my employment.

I like that BambooHR has a mobile app. The app is very convenient because you have all of your documents at your fingertips.

Ulemper:

Sometimes the app glitches and I have had a couple of mistakes on my timecard because of it.

I love how user friendly it is, both as an admin an for employees. Everything is in one place and easy to find.

I wish it was more Slack friendly, and some things were more customizable

Kommentarer: I like how employees can punch in for the day, check their PTO, know who is off for the day. Its all in one place and easy to navigate.

Bamboo HR is user friendly. The site is easy to navigate. I like the calendar feature. It helps with knowing which staff members are off.

Design, user-friendly, easy of use, easy to set up.

Ulemper:

Would like file signature to work differently. It would be great if forms were available to all employees to just fill out and then it would move through the pre-set approval process. Not require a form to be emailed by a management member to someone or themselves to fill out. Would also like training to be more robust and have more function. Especially would like to see training assignments as of a specific date entered rather than hire date. Would also like employees not to see future trainings until 30 days before the due date. Seeing annual training all year is confusing to them and they get desensitized to seeing that training and ignore it when it comes due again.

Easy to use, Great Employee Engagement

Fordele:

Easy to use for my employees. Smart phone compatibility is perfect. PTO requests are quick and manager approval helps.

Ulemper:

Login is a pain with the dual authentication when your in a hurry. Reports are good but can take some time to figure out.

A Solid Time Tracking and HR Management Software

Kommentarer: Used as both an end user and middle management to do reviews for direct reports.

Fordele:

Good interface for time tracking, requesting time off, and general HR management.

Ulemper:

Takes a considerable amount of time to properly configure for complex organizations.

A good price for a good product. Responsive and always innovating.

Kommentarer: Bamboo has been a great software to help us perform so may of our tasks, both frequent and infrequent. It is user friendly, accessible, packed with training, and easy to modify. There are some walls that we hit that come with hyper-specific needs we have, but since Bamboo is always reading feedback and updating accordingly, we have hope in its expansion and improvement.

Limits on the integration of custom fields and tables into filters on ting like onboarding, training, announcements, and benefits.

Ulemper:

BambooHR excels at core HR functionalities, but it may lack some advanced features like performance management tools or robust applicant tracking capabilities found in more comprehensive HRIS systems. BambooHR's pricing can be a deterrent for some businesses, especially as features are added with higher tiers. It might not be the most cost-effective option for companies with a very limited budget.

A user friendly and functional HRIS system

Fordele:

When using the reporting function whether it's the standard reports of custom reports I appreciate the ability to customize the fields, and time span I need for my reports. The onboarding new starter packet and task customization is great to streamline the onboarding process. We are able to automate some of the tasks and track their completion. For example, we assigned some policies we need signatures on before their start date. The employee gets the chance to read these items before they start to best prepare themselves for their first day.

Ulemper:

My least favourite thing about the onboarding packet function is the lack of ability to assign tasks to more than one person. For example I send tasks to our IT team to remind them we need equipment and accounts setup for a new hire. I had to create an individual task for each IT member, rather than a task for the whole group. We already have them grouped by access level, it would be nice to use that as an option to assign tasks.

BambooHR Review

Kommentarer: It was really up and down for me. I didn't like it as much as our new system.

Kommentarer: Overall, it is a great to for small companies that don't have too many resources to track time logging, vacations, sicknesses, direct reports, etc, and have quick analysis on the distribution both in terms of age, gender, location, etc.

Fordele:

The API to google calendar and the user friendly interface

Ulemper:

I'd really enhance the process to see review people time logging. It is hard to track on an overall basis who is missing, who has reported 'x' or 'y' hours so I can quickly check if that's is ok, etc.

Your Go-To HR Functions

Kommentarer: Magnificent overall! I appreciate the fact that we can even use it for training, onboarding, looking for other files, tracking employees, their status and so much more. This is really a good tool to have.

Fordele:

I love BambooHR in so many aspects. But my favorite would be how it can be integrated into other HR Software Tools and job boards. My work as a Technical Recruiter is to hunt for the right candidate and it became easier to do so when we integrated BambooHR to other tools we have.

Ulemper:

The function of uploading the candidate's resume and manually entering the details one by one is pretty time-consuming. I am hopeful it will be better soon!

Excellent Customer Service

Kommentarer: I have been very happy with my overall experience and enjoy the consistency it has brought to my department and the company as a whole.

I came on board with all employee and contractor files in paper form and it was hard to stay consistent in knowing what everyone had at every location. This enables me to clear up missing documentation and provide important documents to everyone in a consistent and timely manner.

Ulemper:

All the features we use at this time are beneficial. I would like to have an easier option to pull reports without having to create a report every time I want to view or pull information quickly.

Good HR platform

Fordele:

I find the platform to be incredibly easy to use and it helps me find everything related to my employment in one place. Moreover, the software's customizability feature enables each company to tailor the platform to their specific preferences. Lastly, having all my documents, benefits, payroll, and other important information on the platform is a great convenience.

Ulemper:

My main concern is that in our organization, we are currently utilizing separate systems for performance assessment, timesheets, and processing expenses. This has created a bit of a challenge in terms of seamless integration and efficiency.
