Extremely intuitive tool for creating beautiful mind maps

Kommentarer: MindMeister is a great tool for mind mapping and creative brainstorming. I love its intuitive interface, the export functionality, endless canvas and integration with Google Drive. If you are a visual person or looking for a simple way for organizing your ideas, this can be your go-to tool.

Fordele:

MindMeister is a simple online tool for creating mind maps, project tasks or meeting notes. My team has used it for around 1.5 years and we have absolutely loved it. It helps in brainstorming the ideas with your hybrid team members and organize those ideas in a structured way. It has extremely intuitive UI and anyone can start using it without any training. You can upload different files from your local system or google drive. This features is extremely helpful when you want to attach details for a particular step. Once you have created a mind map, you can export it in different format like .pdf, .png, .docx, .pptx etc. and share it with your team members or client stakeholders.I love the collection of pre-built templates in MindMeister as it saves up a lot of time during ideation sessions.

Ulemper:

A big drawback of MindMeister is that it doesn't allow you to create process/data flow diagrams (like BPMN). Due to this limitation, you might need to switch to a different tool. Additionally, we have faced a bit of a lag if the mind map is extremely detailed out or having large files attached to it. Also, its free plan only allows you to create a few documents and doesn't provide enough features.

Unfortunate Customer Experience

Fordele:

It is decent for Mind Mapping and documenting new ideas and projects.

Ulemper:

I had a really disappointing experience with Mind Meister and hope this review saves others from wasting their time and money. Here are the undisputed facts of my interaction with Mind Meister – •My company has been a customer of Mind Meister since March 2021 and a spent $2,227 during that period •On April 19, 2024 at 5:00pm I received an email saying they charged $419 for a subscription renewal for 4 users and 6 month term •At 5:01pm I received another email offering savings if I subscribed for a year instead of 6 months •At 6:08pm I shared that our team hasn’t used Mind Meister at all other than me and I requested a refund for the 3 other licenses and said I was happy to renew my single license for a year •Their response “I'm sorry to say that I cannot issue a refund in this case. As outlined at the time of purchase, selecting a billing period when purchasing a license causes your plan to renew automatically by default” •I said that I have been a loyal customer and thought they issued notifications BEFORE a subscription renews like most companies since it is the law in most states. •Their response “I am sorry that you feel this way, but we notify our users about the automatic license renewal not only at the time of purchase but also in our terms & conditions and email invoices.” You can decide if you want to work with a company that retains their loyal, multi-year customers by referencing ‘fine print’ in terms & conditions that no one can keep up with when they have over 30 different vendors and software providers. I know I prefer the many other alternatives that care about their customers.

Retrospective project look back

Fordele:

We use mindmeister to do collaborative project look-backs. The huge benefit it is already has all the tabs for different options (eg "what could we improve" and "what could we learn") so that we're collecting both positive and negative feedback. This is especially useful because the biggest difficulty with project overviews is when they are either entirely negative or entirely positive.

Ulemper:

I would like to have the opportunity to export to a database, which I understand is technically possible with a paid account, but it seemed like a lot of clicks to get there.

Decent Mind Map Software

Kommentarer: I enjoy using Mindmeister just wish they has more map layouts.

Fordele:

The website has never been down, its fairly quick and easy to get ideas from yourhead down onto a mindmap.

Ulemper:

Compared to things like X mind they dont have a great choice of map layouts eg timeline, fishbone. Also they have a separate task management tool called Meistertask which they try to get you to use but it seems overly complicated having Mindmeister for mindmaps and Meistertask for task management. Some other compaines just have 1 product that does mapping and task management.

Why did they change the best mind mapping app there is?

Kommentarer: At this point, I'm very disappointed. It was excellent for brainstorming an enormous thesis project and for designing extensive action research, but the new developments are just extremely disappointing.

Fordele:

This app's functionality and user interfact is second to none. The speed with which you can brainstorm is excellent.

Ulemper:

I have been stuck in a loop of not being able to connect to my account, getting extremely slow and convoluted customer service, reestablishing access, then losing it again for the last 5 months. I also seriously dislike the new updates. When I started using this service (in grad school), it was absolutely exceptional. I loved being able to make a mind map quickly, then turn it into a presentation on the spot, adjusting the order of the cells as "slides" in the presentation... it was SO useful. Now, they got away from that for some reason.

Used to be a great product. Now appalling

Kommentarer: Dissapointed with a degraded product and lack of product management consideration to the customer base.

It USED to be a a great mindmapping. Fast, intuitive with all the essential featutes needed for mindmapping and brainstorming

Ulemper:

Where to start? A year or so ago, Mindmeister upgraded their UI to a superficially 'modern' look but with inferior functionality and UX in every way. Cluttered, inconsistent, more friction in terms of usage. Unbelievable how a superb product has been ruined in such a thoughtless manner. After 10 years+ of usage I am looking at other options and using stuff like Notion where previously it would have been MM.

Exploring the effectiveness of MindMeister for project management.

I haven't found anything negative about MindMeister so far. The tool has been very effective in creating and managing mind maps, has significantly improved communication and collaboration between team members, and has improved efficiency and productivity in our projects. While there can always be areas for improvement in any tool, thus far MindMeister has lived up to all of our needs and expectations as a project management tool.

I love MindMeister, I can't do any presentation without it.

I am a fan of this tool. I use mental maps a lot to plan myself and to make presentations. Everything looks very elegant and practical.

Honestly, I haven't seen anything yet that displeased me. I see an app that helps me a lot and makes my life easier.

Beautifully Designed

Fordele:

Simple and colourful UI - very pleasing to look at. As such it makes you work longer. The floating menu really makes it easy for you to quickly add items to your mind-map and notes.

Ulemper:

Would be nice if you had more viewing options.

It integrates well with other software

It offers great integration with software like Google docs

The trial version can be very obtrusive and it interrupts my workflow

MRE Kingstone Mind

Fordele:

It is not the ordinary chart, it's cute and can be playful using it. Simple charts can be easily drawn.

Ulemper:

It's a bit hard to use and format the charts. The connections are hard to pull. It takes time to get used to it.

Great Student Collaboration Tool

Kommentarer: The software is so easy to use. When you create your first mind map, it takes you step by step through the process. There are fun templates to choose from or you can start from scratch. I love the collaboration tool and the presentation tool. They both make it easy for students to collaborate and present their finished project.

Fordele:

I like so much about MindMeister. The software makes it possible for several students to work on the same mind map simultaneously. So it is great for homework or a project. There are many templates to choose from, or the students can start from scratch. I love the presentation tool. This tool allows for creativity as well.

Ulemper:

The free portion of the software is limited. But it still allows your students to create a nice mind map. It gets kind of pricey if you want to make more than the allotted maps.

Fantastic tool for mind maping

Fordele:

Easy to create mind maps. Features to share and collaborate. Cross devices.

Ulemper:

Quite slow support. It takes about a week to get a response from support.

I've tried several mind mapping software over the years, but none ever come close to the ease of use and advanced features packed into mind meister

Nothing, the free plan is a good place to start, while pricing for more advanced users, professionals and business is more than fair

I just love MindMeister. It's incredible all the kinds of mind maps you can create in just one website without spending a lot of time creating the template. I love that you can download the final document in different formats, such as PDF, JPGE, PNG, etc. First time I used MindMeister I was in awe since it was really simple to access and keep the information saved in one place. My students now use MindMeister and we love working on it.

Nothing, it is really simple and easy to use, plus we don't need to spend any money.

A (beautiful) Swiss army knife of mind maps

Kommentarer: Also working in teams and collaborating with other people, this tool turns out to be really great and very efficient for mind map management. My wish would be to be able to buy it instead of having it as a subscription.

Fordele:

MindMeister makes the process of mind mapping enjoyable, fun and creative, allowing you to reason and design processes in a very pleasant and functional environment. Responsive and well-designed interface

Ulemper:

Its shortcomings are very few. What I regret the most is the impossibility to buy it as a lifetime service, without depending on subscriptions that make the expense excessive compared to the real use.

Map your Mind with MindMeister the BEST mapping interface on the web

Kommentarer: I've used this software for everything from planning camping trips, foreign travel, writing projects and business management. It works for just about everything!!!

Fordele:

I like the cost (I stay basice) and the interface is intuitive. I like being able to drag items to different parts of the map and to interconnect maps!!!

Ulemper:

The free version limits the maps I can make, but paying will solve this.

The most useful tool for all my strategies & planning

Fordele:

Often when we are working on some projects, business ideas or anything that requires planning, we always look out for some tool to organize and arrange our raw ideas. There are many tools available but the mindmaps by MindMeister seems to be the perfect fit. The concept of mindmaps with connections make the task easy and effective. It saves me a lot of time.

Ulemper:

A few of my colleagues use mind node on mac and they say that the UI is better with a little more features. So, I expect MindMeister to include a little more features like connection customization and a little improvement in UI just like in MilaNote.

Over 4 years of use

Fordele:

The versatility and creativity and style options are what keep me coming back. I can outline books, storylines, blog posts, brainstorm content, prepare character outlines. It's truly enjoyable to use the program.

Ulemper:

I dislike that I do not have other format choices for exporting on the basic plan. I would like the option to export a mind map in 1 format of my choosing versus being restricted to the format type.

About my mindmap creator MindMeister

An invaluable tool

Fordele:

Great interface, easy to use, instant synchronization.

Ulemper:

I use it as todo/note organizer, grouping them by subject and specific to my usage I would have liked to have metadata that can be attached to items (date, priority, ...) and then having the possibility of sorting items on the same level by that metadata.

Data analysis and group of problems

Kommentarer: Good application to capture and store the data point, problem identification and subsequent open thinking resolves the problems

The software is very good in capturing so many data point and problem reference point. It offload the problems and keeps mind free

Helps me be creative

Kommentarer: I design my own courses, and I use Mindmeister to help me outline and think through my course organization. At first I was not sure that it was worth the money. Because it was almost time for renewal, I decided to begin a new project and outline it by hand. WIthin a day I realized that Mindmeister was definitely something that helped a lot. Not only can I move ideas around very easily, but I can also see my projects differently simply due to the ability to color similar ideas with the same color, and connect them to each other. Being able to move a chain of ideas without having to erase and start over was huge too. I realized that Mindmeister had been making a huge difference.

I would liked to have an actual list of different short tutorials.
